Transitions - Issue 22. Saraba Magazine

With scarcely any model to follow, Saraba Magazine took on the challenge of defining how writers can be published at the outset of their careers.

Conceived by writers to promote their own work, the publication has grown from a handful to almost 300 individual contributors including winners of acclaimed literary prizes such as the Caine Prize, Bailey's Women's Prize for Fiction and the Etisalat Prize for Literature. On an interview with Ayobami Adebayo, author of Stay With Me, speaks on the source of universal themes in her stories and more. 'Most times, I can point to an image, a moment or an incident that inspired a story in some way...reading old notebooks made me wonder even more, how much of all this is beyond the purview of our conscious minds.'
